Search Has Changed.
So Have We.
Your website needs to work well, be easy to find, and now it also has to make sense to Google and the AI tools people use to search for businesses, services, and answers.
This brings a new challenge for any organization with a website. Just being online doesn’t guarantee people will find you. Even a great-looking site can fall behind if it doesn’t keep up with changes in search, technology, and how people look for information today.
This year, we’ve been paying close attention to these changes and expanding how we can help our clients stay ahead.

Web Optimization Specialist Kaila Anderson has played a big role in this progress. With her background in computer science, web design, and technical know-how, we’re now able to do more than just build and maintain websites. She has transformed clients’ websites by taking big steps forward in both Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO).
We’re now looking even closer. Can Google find and index your pages? Is your site quick and easy to use on phones? Do you have the right keywords, titles, and descriptions? Is your content set up for what your customers are actually searching for?
And more often these days, can ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and other AI tools understand who you are, what you do, and when your business should be part of the answer?
From Building Websites to Building Visibility
Traditional SEO still matters. But we’ve learned that optimization isn’t just something you do once when a website launches.
Search algorithms change, competitors change, and content can become outdated. New pages get added, links can break, and your site might slow down. Technical problems can show up and hurt your visibility. MARQUEE’s research shows it’s better to keep checking and conduct regular, in-depth SEO audits rather than treating optimization as a one-time job.
That’s why we’ve been developing a more comprehensive approach.
Kaila now takes care of keyword research, on-page optimization, metadata, image optimization, checking indexing and sitemaps, fixing broken links, testing site speed and mobile performance, monitoring Search Console, and verifying everything works well technically. Our process is changing, too. Before any copy is written, we can identify the main and secondary keywords, understand what people are searching for, suggest how to structure the page and its internal links, and provide our writers with an SEO content brief. This helps make sure the finished page is easy to discover and read.
And Then AI Changed Search
This is where things get really interesting. People are now asking full questions to AI tools instead of just typing a few words into a search engine. That means organizations need to think about both Search Engine Optimization and Answer Engine Optimization.
AEO assesses whether your content is structured so AI systems can understand your business, what you know, and the answers you provide. This could mean using question-and-answer formats, structured data, trust signals, local information, and organizing your content so machines can read it more easily.
In other words, the challenge is evolving from simply:
“Can people find you on Google?”
to:
“When someone asks AI about your industry, does it understand enough about you to include you in the conversation?”
That’s a very different question, and it’s something businesses should start thinking about now.
Meet the Woman Behind the Work
Kaila graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, focusing on creative uses of technology. She knows HTML/CSS, WordPress, performance optimization, and industry research, which makes her a great fit for MARQUEE, where strategy, content, design, and technology come together.
And she has already helped us turn our own website into a testing ground.
Our optimization work helped us find and fix problems with indexing, metadata, broken links, image optimization, and site performance. This process let us build repeatable systems we can now use for our clients’ websites.
It also reminded us of something important: launching a website isn’t the end of the journey.
MARQUEE is building ongoing optimization programs. These include regular Search Console reviews, keyword and visibility checks, metadata reviews, broken-link scans, PageSpeed testing, and technical maintenance, as well as deeper SEO reviews from time to time.
For our clients, especially those whose websites we already host and manage, this means MARQUEE can now connect the whole digital process—strategy, writing, design, development, hosting, maintenance, SEO, and AEO.
Kaila is helping us build this ability from the ground up.
This combination gives our clients a whole new level of service.
Because being online or even having a good-looking website isn’t enough anymore. The real question is whether your site can be found, understood, and chosen by the machines now deciding what your audience will see.
