Spring Into Action!
—3 Easy Ways to Freshen Up Your Marketing Efforts

By Valentine J. Brkich
They say that April showers bring May flowers. (That is, unless you live in North Dakota, where it snows until June. God bless you North Dakotans.) When it comes to your marketing, hopefully all the work you put in during the month of April will sprout new clients and business for you moving forward.
But just like you have to feed your grass and fertilize your flowers to keep them healthy, you also need to keep supplementing your marketing with fresh messaging to strengthen and continue to grow your brand. If only there were some magical marketing fertilizer you could sprinkle on everything and watch it blossom! (Pro Tip: Don’t sprinkle any fertilizer on your computer. Speaking from experience here.)
But don’t worry. I’ve put together three simple steps you can take to freshen up your marketing efforts and continue to grow your client base.
Refine Your Messaging
Who are your ideal customers? What problems are they trying to solve and how, exactly, can you help them? Once you figure these out, use this information to make sure your messaging across all channels is clear and has an emotional impact. Weed out all the superfluous stuff, and focus on solving your clients’ problems rather than just selling product. No one likes a pushy salesperson. They want a problem solver. (Unless it’s my wife, that is, who just wants me to listen, for Pete’s sake.)
Quality Over Quantity
The last thing you want to do is bore potential customers by overwhelming them with lackluster, AI-generated content. (Heaven knows they get enough of that on their personal Facebook feeds.) Make sure you’re providing value in all of your messaging—social media, blogs, case studies, podcasts, etc. Remember: solve, don’t just sell. Give them practical, authentic information, in your unique voice, that will keep them coming back again and again.
Start Conversations
Don’t just assume you know what your current and potential customers want or need. Engage them. Ask them questions and then respond promptly with information that proves you can provide them with value. Ask them to leave reviews on Google and on your social media profiles. And, most of all, be nice! Even if they leave a not-so-complimentary review or try to coax you into an online argument. Like Sister Margie always told us back in grade school, kill’em with kindess! (Not literally, of course.)
So there you have it—three simple ways you can continue to strengthen your marketing efforts and grow your client base. Now, get to work!
And don’t forget to fertilize your petunias. After all, you don’t want your neighbors talking about you.
